Here is the latest update regarding domestic basketball from Basketball Victoria inline with the announcement from Premier Daniel Andrews news release Monday 11th May 2020
The announcement doesn't allow for the use of indoor venues, however, BV will continue to work with government to institute the appropriate guidelines that will see a return to indoor basketball at some stage in the very near future.
I have provided a link for at home tools and activities for our members from BV to keep active during this pandemic

The Victorian Government today announced some gradual easing of restrictions for Victorians that will come into effect on Tuesday 12 May from 11:59pm.

Domestic Basketball Update
The next review date for domestic competition basketball will be Sunday 31 May in line with the Victorian Government's extension to the State of Emergency as of Monday 11 May.

In the meantime, we encourage everyone to take advantage of the opportunity to be active through basketball outside in a safe and respectful manner under strict compliance with the governments new restrictions.

For more details on the latest government restriction updates – including specific sport and recreation activities, please visit the Victorian Government's Coronavirus update.

Return to Sport – Outdoor Activity

The key changes announced means the following will be permitted:
  • outdoor gatherings being permitted with up to 10 people
  • indoor gatherings at home are permitted, with 5 visitors able to visit the normal residents of a household
  • the ability to leave the house for exercise will be expanded to include outdoor recreational activities.
These activities can occur in groups of up to 10 people outside, but the requirements on physical distancing remain.
  • for weddings 10 guests are allowed, plus the couple and the celebrant
  • for funerals, 20 people will be allowed at an indoor ceremony and 30 people at an outside ceremony. This is in addition to the minimum people required to conduct the funeral
  • religious gatherings and ceremonies will be permitted with up to 10 people, plus those required to perform the ceremony
While basketball is a predominantly indoor sport, there are a number of ways that people can participate in basketball activities utilising community accessible outdoor courts and open spaces.
Importantly, this must be done with a maximum of 10 people in any group activity, with no contact permitted, and applying social distancing and safe hygiene practices at all times. See below for a helpful inforgraphic to share with your team, friends and family for any athletic training sessions.

Keep Safe and Healthy
Kind Regards ,

Q. What got you into basketball? Did you ever think representing your country would be a possibility when you started out?
A. I started playing basketball following in the footsteps of my older siblings. My sister's school singing teacher (Vernice Petty) owned a Domestic club, the Northern Rebels, and I started playing shortly after they both started. I don't think the thought of playing for my country crossed my mind until a few years down the track.

The court plan for the Semi Finals this Saturday 14th March 2020 is now available.

Huge congratulations to Suiti Hicks for winning a Bronze medal representing Samoa in the Pacific Games in Samoa this month. She was dynamic in all her games and coached by her cousin Lisa Epa they played amazing. Suiti and Lisa have been part of the Rebels family for many years and Suiti currently plays with the Lady Giants and along with Elo Magbegor train our U16b white team. Lisa's son Pue and nephews Quade and Donny play in our U8s red team along with Suiti's nephews Vincent and Paletoa.
So proud

Huge Congratulations to Raff Rocco who plays in our Rebels u14b and u16b teams. He has been selected for the Victorian State Basketball Team a huge effort. He's so deserving and such a wonderful kid who is not only very talented but shows great sportsmanship. We know you'll do so well especially with the help and support of your amazing parents and the Rebels family.

Rebels players on the world stage

Rebels players are representing Australia on the world stage. The sporting careers of Ezi Magbegor, Nia Stamatopolous, Georgia Patrikios and Trent Cotchin are moving forward at an exciting pace.

EZI MAGBEGOR will be playing for the Opals in the FIBA womens' World Cup in Spain this month. On her return she'll be playing for the Boomers in the WNBL season. Please cheer her on, even go to games.

NIA STAMATOPOLOUS started playing In our club when she was in U10 girls with her sister Anthea who was under 12s. The current under 20 girls played with Nia when she was in our club and she was a standout athlete even then and then she decided to move to soccer and give that a go. She is outstanding and has recently been named in the under 17 junior Matilda squad representing Australia in the AFC championships. Please cheer her on.Closer to home,

GEORGIA PATRIKIOS made the 2018 all Australian Team for AFLW. She also played with our current U20g. Look out for her as she's a talent you'll see a lot of.

Of course, another Rebels player is TRENT COTCHIN who played for us while at Reservoir West Primary School. Footy was always his main sport and he was so talented in every sport he played. There was no doubt he was going to make it big.
